Margaret Sargent Brown
Bill Brown sent some pictures in this post after looking through some of his mother's things. He sent a picture of his mother above, as well as a letter from Bob Smith and a report card of Grace Stormann's, who married James Butman Sargent. The picture above is of Bill's mother, Margaret Sargent Brown when she was about 12 years old. Margaret was the daughter of James Butman Sargent and Grace Stormann Sargent. I remember talking with Aunt Peg, as we called her, when I was a teenager. She always had a zest to her, and you can see that in the picture above. She told me that she remembered her grandmother telling her that her grandmother washed clothes on the rocks of the Rhine River. I wish I had had the sense back then to write some of that down! Aunt Peg (Margaret Sargent's) mother, Grace Stormann (wife of James Butman Sargent), was apparently a good student, as shown below:
Finally, Bill found a letter written by Bob Smith at the time of Grace (Stormann) Sargent's death. Bob Smith is the son of Mary Elizabeth (Sargent) Smith and Milan Smith.
Bob Smith -
Graduation picture above?
Bob Smith, unknown date,
from Sargent Family Pictures,
but they show his interest in
horses, which became his business
in Las Vegas, Nevada, shown below.
This is an example of some of the things we all can have tucked away in our attics that show a bit of family history.
